Septicaemia due to Pasteurella pneumotropica.
The literature concerning Pasteurella pneumotropica infection in animals and man is briefly reviewed and a case presented in which the organism was the cause of septicaemia in a patient receiving chemotherapy for myeloid leukaemia. Bacteriological findings are recorded and compared with those of other authors.

A 38 year old man developed meningitis following a dog bite. Pasteurella pneumotropica, usually an animal pathogen, was isolated from the cerebrospinal fluid. The patient made a complete recovery after antibiotic therapy. The relevant literature is reviewed.

Pasteurella pneumotropica was isolated in essentially pure cultures from the bowels of hamsters with enteritis 7 days after parturition. Newly received hamsters showed presence of P. pneumotropica in their nasal cavities but not in their uteri, lungs, spleens, or bowels.
